The Dodge D50 pickup is actually the first name of the Dodge Ram 50. It was called like that only from 1979 to 1980. It is a compact pickup truck produced by Mitsubishi Motors and sold by the Chrysler Corporation from its beginnings till 1993. In 1982, this pickup truck could be bought directly from the United States; Mitsubishi imported it as the Mitsubishi Mighty Max. Plymouth also created a version of this car, called the Arrow Truck. It stopped existing in 1982, when the Mitsubishi Mighty Max appeared.

The Dodge Ram 50 comes in two generations: the first one is the D50 and the Plymouth Arrow Truck. This first generation was produced from 1979 to 1986. In 1987 the second generation appeared. It was a highly improved one. Its production lasted until 1993; it had two types of transmission: 4-speed automatic and 5-speed manual. The Dodge Ram 50 is a smaller version of the full-size version, Dodge Ram. Between 1983 and 1986 a turbo diesel was available for the US models. Also, in 1982 appeared the four-wheel drive, creating the Power Ram 50 which was the name for every four wheel drive model. The Power Ram 50 meant a lot in terms of performance for the Dodge truck, it offered both toughness and utility. In 1987, the year of the second generation, the Dodge Ram 50 was redesigned. The same year, Chrysler introduced the Dodge Dakota, Ram 50's successor. Still, the Ram 50 was a compact truck while the Dakota was only a mid-size. That is why Ram 50 sales lasted until 1993.
