The Volkswagen Vanagon is the type2 model of the T3 generation, it is also known as Transporter in Europe. The car was made in 1980, and it was the last rear-engined vehicle produced by the company. This later version also had "airliner" style plastic duct that runs the length if the vehicle in the center with adjustable outlets. The controls were given above the sun visors in front. The interior was more attractive with grey color. This version was one of the vehicles where automatic transmission was tougher than the manual transmission.

The Vanagon also had some extra features like brake master cylinder was inside the dashboard. The battery in gasoline-powered models was located under passenger side front seat in order to protect it from dust and other particles. The oil filling tube was given behind the flip-down licence plate door, and this needed some extra care while pulling it in full-service gas station.
